he Ferraioli family was an aristocratic and noble family, with many land holdings along the Amalfi Coast. The Palazzo Ferraioli was built in the late 19th century by the Ferraioli brothers: Matteo, Pasquale and Edigio.
Their dream was to create a beautiful residence that was both comfortable and elegant. Matteo, an architect and engineer, designed the palazzo, and it was one of the largest and grandest ever built in Atrani.
The Ferraioli family built the palazzo with the utmost love and care and the finest materials of the era were used in the construction.
Shortly after Palazzo Ferraioli was completed, tragedy struck the family. Edigio’s first wife and child died during childbirth in 1896. Soon after her death, heartbroken Edigio left Italy for the United States, never to return to his beloved Italy and palazzo in Atrani.

After some years, Edigio remarried Carmela DeFeo, who had immigrated from Amalfi with her family as a young girl. The two remaining Ferraioli brothers, Matteo and Pasquale, died in 1909, leaving no heirs. Pasquale and his wife Elisabetta never had children, and when Elisabetta passed away, she left everything to Edigio’s children who were living in the United States.

When the Lucibello family purchased the palazzo, they decided to retain the Ferraioli name in honor of the distinguished family that dreamed and designed such a magical place.

The Palazzo Ferraioli stands as a testament to the unique beauty and history of the Amalfi Coast. The restoration has been conducted with love and care, preserving the integrity and grand vision of the Ferraioli family.

(We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Phyllis Manicone, granddaughter of Edigio Ferriaoli, for kindly providing these historical details.)
